Clever Consumable CBD Cocktails

Happy hour, anyone? Whether you’re enjoying a cold beer or steeping a calming cup of tea, an end of the workday beverage is a mindful way to transition to a relaxing evening. CBD-enhanced cocktails are shaking up all over, with mixologists creating new concoctions at hotspots around the country. If you’re interested in experimenting, grab a shaker and try a few of these recipes. (We’ve got zero-proof, too!)

Although high-quality CBD tinctures (like CANVAS) don’t contain intoxicating THC, individual reactions with alcohol can vary, so it’s recommended that you understand how your body responds individually to CBD before you begin mixing it with any additional substances. Read more about CBD and alcohol here.

Taste is everything, and you’ll want to experiment with your own favorite flavor profiles. CANVAS Relief Oil has deep, toasty flavor with just a hint of sweetness. While a few drops might overwhelm a glass of champagne, it pairs well with spirits and ingredients with distinct flavors of their own, such as whiskeys and rums. The slight viscosity of the oil itself also adds a pleasing mouthfeel in stirred or shaken drinks. Here are a few of our favorites.

CBD Simple Syrup

This easy syrup can be infused with ginger, spices or herbs, making it a perfect addition to your favorite cocktail/mocktail recipes or in a cup of tea or glass of lemonade. Just dissolve equal parts water and sweetener of your choice (like sugar, honey or agave), then add CBD oil to create the desired dosage per serving. Refrigerate for up to a week.

Good Mood Negroni

The Negroni was invented a hundred years ago in Italy, and is a perpetual favorite for lovers of complex, not-too-sweet sips.

1 oz. gin 1 oz. Campari or amaro 1 oz. sweet vermouth 1-2 mL Canvas Relief Oil (1-2 droppers) Orange twist

Stir liquids into a mixing glass with ice, then strain into an ice-filled double rocks glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

CBD Spritz

This coral-colored refresher remains one of Italy’s most popular apéritifs, and is as easy to quaff as it is to make. Fill a wine glass with ice, then add

3 parts Prosecco 2 parts Aperol 2 parts club soda 1-2 mL Canvas Relief Oil (1-2 droppers) Orange twist

Stir, garnish and enjoy!

Non-jumpy Julep

Mint enhances the sweetness of bourbon in this quintessential Kentucky cocktail.

1/4 to 1/2 oz. CBD simple syrup (see recipe above) 8 mint leaves 2 oz. good quality bourbon Mint sprig Dash of bitters (optional)

Lightly muddle the mint and simple syrup in a rocks glass or classic julep cut. Pour in bourbon and pack the cup with crushed ice. Stir until frosty, then garnish with a mint sprig and a dash of bitters, if desired.

Happy Hot Toddy

This warming winter mocktail is perfect for cold wintry evenings.

1 tablespoon honey 1 teaspoon lemon juice 6 ounces hot black tea 1-2 mL of Canvas Relief Oil (1-2 droppers) 1 lemon wedge studded with cloves Nutmeg for grating

In a large mug, add honey, lemon juice and CBD oil. Top with hot tea. Stir and garnish with lemon wedge, cinnamon stick, and a grating of nutmeg. Optional: Add 1oz bourbon for a bit of extra warmth!

We’d love to hear if you give any of these recipes a try or if you create your own CBD cocktail or mocktail that you’re particularly proud of - just send us a note on Instagram (@CANVAS1839). Cheers!
